Oriental- ss16 Catwalks
Wow !!The catwalks have shown us an abundance of patterns. I'm loving the Oriental look that has been featured in some of the designer catwalk shows for ss16, from florals, mini geos and scenes.

Florals S/S16 Catwalks
Well, we have had a busy month of catwalks and over all a magical mix of inspiring patterns from New York, London, Milan and most recently Paris.
The Duro Olowu collection shows this dramatic mix of patterns.
An abundance of florals has been on show, and for next season they come in all shapes, sizes, styles and techniques these have also been mixed with all sorts of contrasting patterns from retro geometrics seen at Gucci, to over scaled stripes and colour blocking seen at Bluemarine.
Etro has produced a Romantic folk collection, similar to what we have seen at the Coach show. A lot of which I have previously covered in my last two posts. (Folk and Boarder prints-September)
Erdem have a more sophisticated folk look and on the Mother of Pearl catwalk the floral have an Art Nouveau look (previous post Magical Morris covers this too.)
I would love to have included some images of the designer collections but unfortunately I couldn't be at the shows to take my own pictures and wouldn't what to get into any copy right issues using other peoples photos. However you can check these on at vogue online as well as other sites.
The show for Luisa Beccaria also featured some very pretty florals, some of which were 3d applique others were printed on lace which have a soft feminine feel.
McQueen also have a opulent collection of embroidered florals both placement and all over.
Vivian Westwoods beautiful all over print features florals and fauna, using the natural colours of the country garden.. I love this one as it looks so over grown!
Rochas have produced a collection which includes large over scale floral jacquards that have a sophisticated shimmer.
The above style of sepia and ghostly florals have been seen on the ss16 catwalks
Applique and printing on lace as
well as burn out give a new dimension to florals
Florals are full on and over grown
Mix them up with Geos.

Folk S/S16 Catwalks
There is so much to look at For the SS16 shows I couldn't possible cover all the patterns currently being shown, so I have picked my own personal favourites and those which I feel are the more wearable.
The Folk theme has been seen at both London and new York shows, Temperley London have a beautiful embroidered mix, Mary Katrantzou designs are more gypsy floral, and at Coach they have a more prairie feel.
Currently the high street have a mixed collection of folk inspired patterns- from detailed crewel work, to printed borders and panels giving them a modern patchwork feel.
The below one colour embroidered detail is a very striking way to achieve the folk look in a more contemporary way.
I picked up the below skirt from a market while visiting India, I think this has a fresh folk look similar to those seen on the Temperley London catwalk.
