Folk S/S16 Catwalks

There is so much to look at For the SS16 shows I couldn't possible cover all the patterns currently being shown, so I have picked my own personal favourites and those which I feel are the more wearable.
The Folk theme has been seen at both London and new York shows, Temperley London have a beautiful embroidered mix, Mary Katrantzou designs are more gypsy floral, and at Coach they have a more prairie feel.
Currently the high street have a mixed collection of folk inspired patterns- from detailed crewel work, to printed borders and panels giving them a modern patchwork feel.

The below one colour embroidered detail is a very striking way to achieve the folk look in a more contemporary way.

I picked up the below skirt from a market while visiting India, I think this has a fresh folk look similar to those seen on the Temperley London catwalk.
The below are two hand embroidered cushion covers that I picked up in Budapest.

Border prints S/S16 Catwalk

Well the last week has been mostly spent looking through the S/S16 New York fashion week photos, and now on to London! I have seen a number of key looks that can also be captured on the high street. The first I have featured is the presence of Border prints, these are usually a mad mix of florals in all sizes and mini geos together making tile like patterns and borders, seen on hems, cuffs and within the overall pattern of the garment. Designers that have featured this look for S/S16 are Diane Von furstenberg, Custo Barcelona, and Anna Sui. You can see these and other S/S16 shows in photos at Vogue.com.

Retro Revival

Retro/Vintage... whatever you what to call it! Its all about the  past, becoming the present. Top shop have recently launched a collection of Retro prints using classic mustard tones that give a truly 70's feel. The presence of yellows, mustards and ochre has been use frequently in some of the designer catwalk's that have been shown at NEW YORK fashion week(SS16)
Whilst the below are the current retro revival 'look' I have also added some of my real vintage finds.
